CLK-Pamela Aguilar
From: Laurel Bergman <Ibfineart@myastound.net>
Sent: Sunday, May 5, 2019 9:05 PM
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: Hybrid or electric trucks for Redwood City
Dear City Council,
We understand that you are considering the purchase of additional gas-fueledl pickup trucka. We are
requesting the postponement of purchasing these gas -powered vehicles for our fleet. We have clean
electric (and hybrid) alternatives whereas gas -powered vehicles cause carbon pollution. Such an
investment seems inconsistent with our city's admirable Climate Action Plan goals.
The GMC Sierra 1500 Hybrid is one type of hybrid pickup truck available now, and electric pickup
trucks are expected in 1-2 years. Meanwhile, several models of hybrid and all -electric SUVs are
available as an alternative.
We appreciate your commitment to reducing air pollution and reducing Redwood City's carbon
footprint as demonstrated by our Climate Action Plan.
Respectfully,
Jay and Laurel Bergman
