• Avoidance of common causes of collisions • Explanation of infrastructure • Explanation of traffic laws/city ordinances • Explanation of school traffic policies • Wearing a helmet SCOPE OF SERVICES FOR BICYCLE RODEOS: Safe Moves will schedule, coordinate and conduct at least three (3) Bicycle Rodeos Days for at least three (3) schools in the Redwood City School District. Safe Moves will charge $1500 per Bicycle Rodeo. The Bicycle Rodeos will be interactive hands-on programs allowing students to experience traffic situations as bicyclists in a safe learning environment called "Safe Moves City" By using a realistic environment, the ability of students to recognize and avoid traffic hazards will be improved. The lesson plans and traffic situations become more challenging for the upper grades to accommodate their "real life traffic challenges". "Safe Moves City" has the following features: • Sidewalks • Intersections • Crosswalks • Traffic signs and signals • Cars • Trucks • Buses • Residential area (various set ups to reflect the diverse communities) • Business district with stores and parking lots with entrances & exits • Alleyways • Bike lanes • Railroad tracks with train, signal, gate and signs • School "Safe Moves City" is module and can be set up to resemble the traffic environment around each school and infrastructure so students can practice safe bicyclist skills in a familiar setting. "Safe Moves City" will also reflect the school policy and procedures for drop-off and pick up. The following skills will be taught: o Explanation of safe places to bicycle (sidewalk, bike lanes, paths) o Bicycling in traffic o Crossing streets safely o Crossing intersections safely o Parking lot safety o Choosing routes to school/destinations o Bicycling with friends o Recognition of traffic signs & signals o Driveway awareness REV: 04-22-19 RL Page 11 of 12 ATTY/AGR.2019.101/SMCOE Safe Moves FY2018-19
