7.A. - Page 138 of 141
From: Terrence Murphey
To: CD -Diana ODell; GRP -Planning Commissioners
Subject: Support for the Broadway Plaza project at 1401 Broadway and 2201 Bay Road.
Date: Thursday, April 18, 2019 7:18:15 PM
Redwood City Planning Commission and Planner O'Dell,
I'm writing to offer my support for the Broadway Plaza development at 1401 Broadway and 2201 Bay Road.
I am a resident of Redwood City, work near by the project sites, and am familiar with the neighborhood.
Our city and region urgently needs additional market rate & affordable housing. This location is well suited for the
heights and densities proposed. This is the level of density needed to support the public transit services our city
general plan envisions for Broadway.
This project would be improved by moving the leasing and amenity spaces away from Broadway, and increasing
retail spaces. Retail benefits the public and improves the character of the Broadway sidewalk. Additional retail
would also help a neighborhood that lost a supermarket several years ago. However, this critique should not
override my approval.
I strongly recommend the Planning Commission support this proposal.
Please call with any questions or comments.
Best,
Terry
Terrence Murphey, AIA
502
