CLK-Pamela Aguilar
From: CD -Diana ODell
Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2019 10:03 AM
To: CLK-Lupe Marin
Cc: CLK-Pamela Aguilar
Subject: FW: Comments on Broadway Plaza Final Approval...
Here's a comment for the Broadway Plaza item going on Monday
From: Scott Clawson[mailto:SCOTT.CLAWSON@ORACLE.COM]
Sent: Monday, May 13, 2019 10:26 PM
To: CD -Diana ODell <dodell@redwoodcity.org>
Subject: RE: Comments on Broadway Plaza Final Approval...
I sent this note during prior reviews with sub -committees, but here is a refresh in support of the May 20th City
Council final hearing (maybe)...
With respect to the Broadway Plaza project, I wanted to express my strong support. This development —
together with Stanford Redwood City — could provide a strong anchor that extends the Broadway artery
that is central to our city. It is likely to spark development of Broadway between Maple and Woodside,
creating new businesses (and hopefully more tax revenue from those new businesses).
I was happy to see that the project plans have evolved quite dramatically since the original introduction.
In particular, the affordable housing is now integrated into the market -rate housing rather than relegated
to the other side of Woodside Road.
The one challenge, as we all know, is traffic impact. Improvements that would mitigate the added street
traffic will be important. Whether it be the Woodside interchange project, the Broadway Streetcar
exploration, bike lanes, or other. I would argue that this is the only negative.
Thanks,
Scott Clawson
426 Hilton Street
Redwood City, CA 94063
