HOUSING
LEADERSHIP
COUNCIL
May 15, 2019
Ian Bain, Mayor
And Honorable Members of the Redwood City City Council
City of Redwood City
1017 Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94063
Re: Support of the Broadway Plaza Proposed Development
Dear Mayor Bain and Members of the City Council,
On behalf of the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County (HLQ, I am writing to
express our support for the Broadway Plaza proposed development. As an organization that
works with communities and their leaders to produce and preserve quality affordable homes
Broadway Plaza's proposed 520 homes, 120 of which are at an affordable rate, is in alignment
with our vision.
We urge the Redwood City City Council to support the approval of the Broadway Plaza
development in order to meet the need for more housing, particularly affordable housing
for those most vulnerable. By moving this development forward the City Council continues
to provide an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future to the City of Redwood City,
where all individuals can have access to quality, affordable homes.
Providing a site for affordable homes will not only create more homes at a deeper level of
affordability than just meeting the inclusionary requirement, it will also create a much needed
child care facility, onsite services and amenities that will make for a great place for residents of
this new development.
Please uphold the City's values of diversity, inclusion, and equity by supporting the Broadway
Plaza proposed development.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
0Q
Evelyn
Stivers
Executive Director
Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County
2905 S.
