Box 361 Redwood City, CA 94063-0391 Dear Mayor Bain and Honorable Members of the City Council, I am writing to express the Chambers enthusiastic support for the proposed Broadway Plaza development (1401 Broadway). The Chamber Board of Directors has formally endorsed the project based on committee presentations by the developer and our own review of the project through our Project Endorsement Criteria. Broadway Plaza will bring hundreds of new homes to Redwood City, including a significant number at below market rates. It will provide a balanced mix of office and retail space, as well a public park and desperately needed space for child care. While the site is not immediately adjacent to transit, there will be a public shuttle to and from the Caltrain station. Overall, the project represents intelligent redesign of an infill site, with each of the proposed land uses and additional amenities offering meaningful benefits to the community. The project sponsors - the Sobrato Organization and MidPen Housing - are highly responsible and respected developers who have worked closely with City staff and the community over the past two years.
