buildings. The traffic mitigation strategy only estimates that the Broadway Plaza project will generate 600 new trips during peak <br />morning and evening commute hours. The estimated 1,400 new residents and 1,700 new employees is an increase of 3,120 potential <br />new cars on Redwood City roads. Yet, the Planning Commission's staff is recommending the Council give final approval today <br />allowing the project to begin without any infrastructure being in place to accommodate the additional traffic congestion. The Sobrato <br />Organization, in an attempt to make the project with all its shortcomings more palatable, offers to donate some land to the city for its <br />planned Woodside Road and US 101 interchange improvements. <br />I ask that the City Council withhold the vote to approve the Sobrato project and seek more community input. The community <br />outreach meetings for this project needs to be better publicized in order for the Council to hear all concerns. The community <br />outreach should be led by the City Council and the Planning Commission staff, not the Sobrato developers. The Mercury News <br />reported that Sobrato held monthly "Coffee with Sobrato" at the proposed project site in order to meet members of the <br />community.
