6.C. - Page 1 of 4 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: May 20, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Final Acceptance - Redwood City School District Safe Routes to School Project (Adelante, Hawes, John Gill, <br />Roosevelt, and Roy Cloud) <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, accept the Redwood City School District Safe Routes to School Project (Adelante, Hawes, John <br />Gill, Roosevelt, and Roy Cloud), and authorize the release of bonds and the retention according to City <br />procedures. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />On April 23, 2018, the City Council approved the Award of Contract for the Redwood City School District <br />Safe Routes to School Project to construct improvements that reduces crosswalk distance and increase <br />the safety of pedestrians for five schools (Adelante, Hawes, John Gill, Roosevelt, and Roy Cloud). The <br />Project improvements included accessible sidewalk, curb ramps, high visibility crosswalks, and bulb -outs. <br />The initial contract amount was $728,066.40 and the final cost of project for completion was $696,196.04. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The contractor, Sposeto Engineering, Inc. has completed the construction of improvements in accordance <br />with the Agreement, the project plans, the project specifications, and to the satisfaction of the City's <br />Engineering and Transportation Division. The contractor provided a faithful performance bond and a labor <br />and material bond, each in the amount of $728,066.40 that can be released at this time. These bonds will <br />be replaced by a Guaranty that guarantees for all construction performed, and all material and equipment <br />incorporated therein, which will be held for a period of one year.
