6.J. - Page 28 of 108
2) For ease of installation, the terminal block shall be positioned in such a manner that supply
wires do not need to be bent or re-routed around components to make electrical termination.
C. Luminaire shall provide means to protect LED driver and LED lighting array from electrical
transients caused by electrical storms or capacitor switching by means of surge protection
device.
1.) Surge Protection Device (SPD) shall be UL1449 recognized.
2.) SPD shall be 3 wires and provide both common and differential mode protection.
3.) SPD must have an inductive filter circuit that reduces the amount of energy passed thru to
electronics during a surge event.
4.) Surge protection device shall be rated to protect the luminaire up to 5kV/IOkA combination
wave surges in accordance with ANSI C136.2 (Most Current).
5.) Surge protection shall be thermally fused,
6.) Failure mode of surge protection is to leave luminaire off.
7.) The use of a MOV Pack Surge Protection device that fails and leaves the luminaire on is
strictly prohibited.
D. LED Driver shall meet the following minimum requirements
1.) LED Driver shall have a minimum power factor of 90% at full load.
2.) LED Driver THD shall be less than 20% at full load per ANSI C82.77:2002.
3.) LED Driver shall comply with the requirements of UL, CSA, FCC Title 47 subpart 15
4.) LED Driver maximum case temperature shall not be exceeded when luminaire is operating
in a 40C ambient.
5.) LED Driver shall be RoHS compliant
6.) LED Driver shall have in ingress protection rating IP66.
7.) LED Driver shall have input voltage range of 120-277 .+-10%
8.) LED Driver shall of a life rating of less than .5% failure rate at 100,000 operating hours (at
full rated power and operating ambient temperature of 25 degrees C).
9.) Upon receiving a 0-1 OV signal, LEDs shall dim down to at least 10% power. Driver must
include leads to accept a 0-1OV signal.
E. Photocontrol receptacle shall comply with ANSI C 136.41 for standard 7 PIN
configurations. The 7pin photocontrol receptacle shall be accessible, installed and prewired
in each luminaire.
3.1.E.1 Luminaire shall include a long life solid-state locking -style photo control with a
20 -year rated life and a minimum 10 -year warranty.
3.
