EXHIBIT A <br />PROPOSED CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />PARKS AND RECREATION PROGRAM ASSISTANT 1/11 <br />To provide coordination and administrative support for programs, activities, <br />trainings, and general community services; oversee daily operations including the <br />scheduling and coordination of programs, provide liaison with the public, <br />community groups, and other City departments as directed. This is not a flexibly <br />staffed classification and vacancies for both the Parks and Recretion Program <br />Assistant I and Parks and Recreation Program Assistant II will be filled by <br />recruitment. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />Parks and Recreation Program Assistant I: This is the entry level of the <br />Program Assistant series. An incumbent in this classification is responsible for <br />providing support in the setup and coordination of programs or activities, <br />assisting customers, operating facilities during weekday, weekend or evening <br />hours including opening and/or closing of facility, and may be responsible for <br />providing direction and oversight to temporary staff and volunteers during <br />assigned activities, classes, and special events. <br />Parks and Recreation Program Assistant If: In addition to duties described <br />above, the incumbent in this classification is responsible for coordinating facility <br />booking, scheduling, rental process and computerized registration processes, <br />direct coordination with other City staff providing internal services, scheduling <br />part-time, temporary staff to meet facility needs, support coordinators, <br />supervisors, managers, volunteers, and community partners on programs, <br />planning and trainings, performing more difficult and complex administrative <br />duties requiring thorough knowledge of the assigned program, division, <br />specialized software, and/or City procedures, policies and operational details <br />including daily financial processes, and serve as back-up for the program <br />supervisor or coordinator in their absence. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Parks and Recreation Program Assistant I <br />Receives direct supervision from management personnel. May receive technical <br />and functional direction from higher level personnel.
