<br />09/11/2007 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14808 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMITTING TO THE SOUTH BA YSIDE WASTE <br />MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (SBWMA) REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL <br />(RFP) PROCESS AND APPROVING THE SBWMA RECOMMENDED <br />CORE SERVICE PACKAGE OFFER TO MANAGE CONTRACTOR <br />SELECTION PROCESS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City is a member of the SBWMA, a joint powers authority <br /> <br />consisting of the cities of Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Menlo Park, <br /> <br />San Carlos and San Mateo, the towns of Atherton and Hillsborough, the West Bay <br /> <br />Sanitary Service, and the County of San Mateo, whose purpose is waste collection and <br /> <br />recycling services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, SBWMA is assisting the joint powers authority in developing and <br /> <br />conducting a coordinated, competitive selection process for collection services and is <br /> <br />conducting a similar selection process for the operation of its Shoreway Recycling and <br /> <br />Disposal Center (SRDC); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City's operating agreement with Allied Waste for solid <br /> <br />waste, recyclable materials, and organic materials collection services expires in <br /> <br />December 31, 2010; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, On October 26, 2006 the SBWMA Board approved the RFP <br /> <br />recommendations to the member agencies regarding future services, contract terms, <br /> <br />and competitive proposal guidelines for the RFP process which are consistent with the <br /> <br />preferred policy directions expressed by the City Council on September 2006 ; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The core service package for residential collection services <br /> <br />includes: weekly solid waste, single stream recyclables, and organic materials (plant <br />ATTY/RESO/RESO.1741 14808 <br />082907 Muff # 803 <br />1 <br />
