Page 1 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From City Council Committee <br /> <br />September 24,2007 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />City Attorney compensation adjustment <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adjust the salary of the position of City Attorney . <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Attorney's anniversary for compensation adjustment is August of each year. The last <br />compensation adjustment for the City Attorney occurred in August 2006. <br /> <br />In July 2007, a salary survey of comparable cities was conducted and on August 27,2007, <br />the City Council conducted a performance evaluation on the City Attorney. Based on that <br />survey and evaluation, it is recommended that the City Attorney's base salary be increased <br />by six and one-half percent (6.5%). If approved, the City Attorney's base monthly salary <br />will increase from $14,832 to $15,796 per month, effective the first period following August <br />5,2007. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The following are alternatives to the recommendation: <br />1. Not grant a salary increase at this time; <br />2. Grant a lower salary increase at this time; <br />3.
