6.4C
Page 2
The Council's Ad Hoc Committee on Traffic Issues has reviewed this report and support
staffs recommendations contained herein.

If Council approves the stop signs, installation will not be immediate. Staff must take
field measurements, prepare a design plan, and arrange for construction of the required
signs and markings. Installation of the "STOP" legend and limit line pavement markings
must occur simultaneously with the installation of the actual stop signs to ensure public
safety. Because the pavement must be thoroughly dry to allow a durable installation of
these markings, wet weather can delay the work. Staff anticipates this stop sign
installation may not be completed until the end of October, but will expedite installation
as weather and workload permit.

ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve the installation of the proposed stop signs. Council
may direct staff to investigate other traffic control options such as placing intersection
warning signs that read "cross traffic does not stop", supplementary plates, or other
similar warning signs on all four of the intersection approaches.

~~~~
M.
