19.2 Full-time employees shall be entitled to annual vacation leave as follows: <br />Upon date of hire through the fourth (4th) year of City service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (3.077 hours per <br />pay period) that yields eighty (80) hours of vacation per year. The fifth (5th) through the ninth (9th) year of service, <br />employees will accrue vacation at a rate (4.615 hours per pay period) that yields one hundred twenty (120) hours of <br />vacation per year. The tenth (10(h) through the sixteenth (16th) year of service, employees will accrue vacation at a rate <br />(6.154 hours per pay period) that yields one hundred sixty (160) hours of vacation per year. The seventeenth (17th) <br />through the nineteenth (19th) year of service, employees will accrue vacation at a rate (6.923 hours per pay period) that <br />yields one hundred eighty (180) hours of vacation per year. The twentieth (20th) and subsequent years of service, <br />employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (7.692 hours per pay period) that yields two hundred (200) hours of vacation <br />per year. <br />YEARS OF SERVICE <br />ACCRUAL RATE hours per pay period)VACATION <br />HOURS hours per year <br />0-0 <br />1 3.077 <br />80 <br />5-9 <br />4.615 <br />120 <br />10-16 <br />6.154 <br />160 <br />17-19 <br />6.923 <br />180 <br />20+ <br />7.692 <br />200 <br />19.3 Vacation leave shall not be accumulated in excess of the amount of vacation hours an employee can accrue in a two (2) <br />year period, based on the employee's current years of City service, computed through the pay period that includes the <br />31st of December, except upon written authorization of the Personnel Officer. <br />19.4 In the event an employee is reinstated, prior service shall be included in determining the applicable rate of accrual of <br />vacation leave. <br />Upon termination of employment a regular employee shall be paid the cash value of his/her accrued vacation leave at <br />the time of termination, in accordance with the above schedule. <br />19.5 Illness During Vacation <br />19.5.1 An employee who commences a scheduled vacation period and subsequently becomes ill before his or her <br />vacation period has been completed shall be placed on illness leave under the following conditions: <br />19.5.2 The employee has the requisite amount of accrued, unused sick leave and otherwise qualifies for sick leave <br />as provided by this MOU; and, <br />19.5.3 The employee, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately following the vacation period; and, <br />19.5.4 The employee's illness is verified by a statement from a licensed medical practitioner for each such day of <br />illness leave requested. <br />19.5.5 When the employee's vacation leave is to be converted to sick leave, the appropriate vacation credit shall be <br />restored to the employee's earned vacation balance, and a reasonable opportunity to utilize this vacation credit <br />shall be provided within the City's existing practices. <br />ARTICLE 20 • LEAVE PROVISIONS <br />20.1 Sick Leave <br />20.1.1 Sick leave with pay shall be granted to all full-time, regular employees at the rate of one (1) working <br />day (eight (8) hours) for each full calendar month of service from the commencement of their <br />employment with the City. This is prorated for employees regularly scheduled to work less than full <br />time. <br />34 <br />
