20.5.5 In any case in which both parents of a child are employed by the City and are entitled to parental <br />leave, the aggregate number of workweeks of parental leave to which both may be entitled shall be <br />limited to 52 workweeks during any 12 -month period. <br />20.6 Leave for Pregnancy Disability <br />In accordance with the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and City policy, employees are entitled <br />to pregnancy disability leave. <br />20.7 Court Appearance Leave <br />20.7.1 Leaves for court appearance shall be granted by the City for the following: Court appearance on <br />behalf of the City --no loss of salary will be incurred. <br />20.7.2 When an employee is required to appear as a witness in court, other than as a litigant, orto respond <br />to an official order from another government jurisdiction for reasons not brought about through the <br />connivance or misconduct of the employee, a leave without loss of salary shall be granted up to the <br />amount of the difference between the employee's regular earnings and any amount he/she receives <br />for witness fees. <br />20.8 Jury Duty <br />Any employee whose name shall be selected from the list of trial jurors to serve as a juror in a civil or criminal <br />action pending in a Superior, Municipal, or Justice Court of the State of California, or any Federal Court <br />convening in the State of California, or any employee required to report for the selection of a jury in any of <br />these courts shall receive pay for the time such service requires his absence from work. An employee who <br />is summoned must notify his or her supervisor or Department Head as soon as possible. The City may require <br />proof of the time such service was required and any monies received from jury service shall be turned into <br />the City; provided, further, that the employee shall report to work whenever a reasonable portion of the shift <br />remains for completion. Any employee, except Communications Dispatchers, required to serve as a juror for <br />more than two weeks shall have the option of adjusting his/her regular starting or quitting time as a result of <br />being called for jury service. Communications Dispatchers working swing or grave shifts, required to serve <br />as a juror for more than one day, will have the option of adjusting his/her starting or quitting time. <br />20.9 Personal Business Leave <br />20.9.1 A full-time employee shall be entitled to a maximum of two (2) days per year for Personal Business <br />Leave without loss of pay. Such leave shall be deducted from accrued sick leave, and may be taken <br />in increments of one (1) hour. Personal business leave shall be prorated for part-time employees <br />who work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per workweek. <br />20.9.2 Personal Business is defined as business of urgent and compelling importance which cannot be <br />taken care of outside of normal working hours and which is not covered under other leave provisions <br />of this MOU. <br />20.9.3 An employee must secure advance permission for all Personal Business Leave as defined above, <br />and shall normally notify the Department Head two (2) days before taking this leave, unless an <br />emergency exists which prohibits the employee from providing such advance notice. <br />39 <br />
