ARTICLE 24 - USE OF PERSONAL VEHICLE AND MILEAGE PAYMENT <br />24.1 Mileage Payment <br />The City shall reimburse employees for those miles employees are required to drive their personal vehicles <br />in the performance of assigned job duties as follows: <br />24.1.1 For travel to and from destinations of less than three hundred (300) miles, actual costs to and from <br />destination not to exceed a maximum of the currently effective standard mileage rate prescribed by <br />the Internal Revenue Service for the business use of personal vehicles pursuant to Internal Revenue <br />Service Code Section 162 for miles traveled both within and outside the City in a privately owned <br />conveyance; <br />24.1.2 For travel to and from destination in excess of three hundred (300) miles said maximum shall not <br />exceed actual air coach fare when such fare is less than the amount computed at the aforesaid rates. <br />For the purposes of this subsection, the actual cost of fuel, maintenance, repairs, insurance and <br />depreciation, shall be deemed equal to the maximum allowance provided for in this subsection. <br />24.2 Other Expenses <br />The City will reimburse employees for expenses incurred in performance of their assigned job duties when <br />such other expenses are other than, or in addition to, expenses based upon mileage transportation costs as <br />provided in Article 24.1. <br />24.3 Compensation for Vehicular Damage <br />The existing City Administrative Policy Number 8 entitled 'Property Damage' in effect as of the date of this <br />agreement, and as subsequently amended subject to notice to the Union and the opportunity to meet and <br />confer where required by law, shall be followed. <br />ARTICLE 25 - SAFETY <br />25.1 Both the City and the Union shall expend every effort to see to it that work is performed with a maximum <br />degree of safety, consistent with the requirement to conduct efficient operations. <br />25.2 Each employee covered by this MOU agrees to comply with all safety rules and regulations in effect and any <br />subsequent rules and regulations that may be adopted. Employees further agree that they will report all <br />accidents and safety hazards to the appropriate management official immediately. Any employee having <br />knowledge of or who is witness to an accident shall, if requested, give full and truthful testimony as to same. <br />25.3 The City has established a safety program in each department and two (2) representatives of the SEIU Unit <br />shall serve on each departmental safety committee. One representative of the SEIU Unit shall serve on the <br />citywide safety committee. <br />25.4 Employees shall not be required to operate equipment that has been deemed unsafe. <br />46 <br />
