<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />October 8, 2007 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - 2006-2007 Sewer Main Replacement Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the 2006-2007 Sewer Main Replacement Project and authorize the <br />release of bonds and retention according to City procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On January 8, 2007, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the 2006- <br />2007 Sewer Main Replacement Project to K.J. Woods Construction, Inc. of San <br />Francisco, CA, for their low bid of $248,000.00. The project has been successfully <br />completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. Change orders (two) <br />totaling $24,800.00 (10% of the contract value) were issued. The final contract cost is <br />$272,800.00. Change orders resulted from unforeseen field conditions. <br /> <br />The 2006-2007 Sewer Main Replacement Project replaced 1,619 linear feet of sewer <br />main using both traditional "open trench" construction techniques, and the "pipe <br />bursting" trenchless technology method, which minimizes surface disruptions. <br /> <br />The project area included: <br />· Whipple Avenue, between Alameda de las Pulgas, and Turnsworth, <br />· Woodleaf Avenue, between Woodhill Avenue and Farm Hill Boulevard, and <br />· An easement area near Brewster Street, between HiIlview Avenue and Nevada <br />Street. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project which would be contrary to prior Council <br />action. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Sufficient funds have been appropriated from Sewer Fund Capital Projects, Collection <br />System Replacement Program for the 2006-2007 Sewer Main Replacement Project. <br /> <br />Peter Ingram <br />Community Developm <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Chu Ch g, .E. <br />Manager, ineering & Const ction <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />~~~~ <br />Grace Le, P .E. <br />Senior Civil Engineer <br /> <br />Ed Everett <br />City Manager <br /> <br />RELATED DOCUMENTS IN CITY CLERK'S OFFICE <br />None <br />
