San Mateo County Interfaith Hospitality Network
City of Redwood City CDBG Funding 2007 - 2008
Budget Narrative

Staff Costs
Because of IHN's unique model, most shelter services and operations are donated, including shelter space, meals,
shelter supervision, and the majority of Day Center rent, maintenance and janitorial services. Therefore, the remaining
costs are largely staff positions, 2.9 FTEs of which are involved in direct services, and 0.5 FTE in administration.
CDBG funds are requested to cover $9,000 in staff costs. These costs cover 643 program supervision hours that are
rendered by van drivers who both transport guests and oversee the Day Center facility. IHN van drivers also offer
multi-functional skills including facilities engineering, operations expertise and recovery support.

Rent
Peninsula Mills Hospital has donated 97% of the space costs, utilities, and cleaning services for the Day Center and
program office. IHN pays $250 per month for all the above. CDBG funds are requested to cover $3,000 in rent
expense.

Insurance
The majority of line item expense covers General Liability insurance. An additional insurance policy has been purchased
to protect against liability for the shelter organization, including directors and officers liability. The IHN passenger van is
also fully insured for its drivers and passengers. CDBG funds are requested to cover $2,000 in General Liability fees
and $1,000 for vehicle liability.
