6.0. - Page 1 of 8 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: August 26, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />Resolution of Support of Bay Area Seamless Transit Principles <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />From the City Manager <br />Adopt a resolution supporting the Bay Area Seamless Transit Principles. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2017, the organization Seamless Bay Area was established by a group of residents and workers to <br />advocate for and support seamless transit and fare system integration in the San Francisco Bay Area. <br />Currently, there are twenty-seven transit agencies operating in the Bay Area with different priorities for <br />capital improvements and operational goals including system expansion, route scheduling, and fare <br />systems. <br />In 2019, Seamless Bay Area developed a set of seven principles to guide local, regional, and state decision <br />makers to pursue a seamlessly integrated, world-class transit system for Bay Area residents and workers. <br />Seamless Bay Area approached local and regional government agencies, including Redwood City, to <br />support and endorse the Seamless Transit Principles. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Despite large financial investments in transportation infrastructure in San Francisco Bay Area over the <br />past five decades, there has not been a commensurate increase in the share of people riding public <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />186 <br />
