6.C. - Page 6 of 35
Recommendation 2: By no later than November 30, 2019, each fire department should submit a proposal
to its administering authority setting forth the content of the annual report as required under Section
13146.4 of the California Health & Safety Code (former SB 1205) (the "Annual Report"), which at a
minimum should propose the inclusion of the following information in the Annual Report:
• The total number of buildings within the fire department's jurisdiction in each category of building
(referred to as an "occupancy type") subject to mandated annual inspections that year.
• The number of each occupancy type inspected during the year;
• The number of each occupancy type, if any, not inspected that year and the reason such
inspection did not take place, and
• The number of each occupancy type, if any, not inspected for two or more consecutive years.
City Response —The City agrees with the recommendation and will comply by November 30, 2019.
Recommendation 3: By no later than January 31, 2020, the administering authority for each fire
department should review the proposal for the content of the Annual Report submitted by its fire chief
and provide written instructions regarding the required content and due date for submission of the
Annual Report.
City Response —The City agrees with the recommendation and will comply by January 31, 2020.
Recommendation 4: By no later than February 28, 2020 (and annually thereafter), the administering
authority for each fire department should instruct the fire chief to publish the fire department's Annual
Report on the fire department's public website.
City Response —The City agrees with the recommendation. However, the annual inspection cycle is based
on the City's fiscal year calendar which is from July 1 through June 30. Assuming the February 28 deadline
is based on two months after a calendar year inspection cycle, the Redwood City Annual Report will be
published on the City's public website no later than September 30 of each year.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact anticipated.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
95
