® RETAIL
REAL ESTATE
RESOURCES
SECTION II
# 9. Consider engaging design experts to develop guidelines for consistent, complimentary design
for street signage and wa y- fin ding ** for vehicles, parking and pedestrians. (Task Force
Recommendation)
Recommendation:
• Consider retaining a professional designer to develop consistent sign guidelines that result in
a coordinated look for all private and public signage in the Downtown Core.
• Integrate the design requirements into the Downtown streetscape plan.
• Coordinate with sidewalk dining guidelines and Downtown Precise Plan.
• Investigate grants for retailer sign upgrades when they use the designated design. Explore
collaborating with RCIA for funding.
• Prune trees upwards from the bottom so they provide shade but do not block signage.
** The Redwood City lmprovement,455ociation and the City are working on a project to design
and install a real time dynamic parking guidance system.
