01/10/2011 <br /> physician and returned promptly to the shift Battalion <br /> Chief. <br /> 18.3.2.2 The employee may use earned sick leave in <br /> accordance with Section 18.9, or earned vacation <br /> leave if her physician certifies that she is unable to <br /> perform her full or light duty work. <br /> 18.3.2.3 The employee may work an alternate light duty <br /> schedule (i.e., a 40 -hour week at 8 -hours per day or <br /> 10 -hours per day). During this alternative <br /> assignment the employee shall be entitled to a one - <br /> hour lunch during her work hours. Additionally, the <br /> employee shall be allowed to participate in a one - <br /> hour work -out during her work hours as specified in <br /> the Ops Manual. <br /> 18.3.3 During light duty, the employee may take earned leave time for any <br /> doctors appointments. <br /> 18.3.4 Employee will not lose seniority or permanent station assignments <br /> due to any pregnancy related leave or light duty assignment. This <br /> would not apply to unpaid leave. <br /> 18.3.5 Employees eligible to take a promotional exam will be allowed to <br /> participate in the examination, provided the employee's physician <br /> certifies in writing that the employee is physically capable of <br /> participating in the exam process. The Department will not be <br /> responsible for conducting any additional exams in order to <br /> accommodate employees who are unable to participate in the <br /> process. <br /> 18.3.6 During the course of pregnancy, uniforms shall be worn until fit or <br /> comfort precludes such, at which time appropriate civilian attire will <br /> be allowed. <br /> 18.3.7 Employee shall return to full duty upon receipt of a physicians <br /> statement certifying that the employee is medically qualified to <br /> assume regular duties and responsibilities. If the physician's <br /> statement does not release the employee to regular duties but will <br /> allow light duty, the employee shall be offered light duty until her <br /> physician releases her to full duty status. Light duty shall not <br /> continue for a period of more than six (6) months. <br /> 18.3.8 Employees who want to provide parental care to newborn infants <br /> may do so in accordance with the Department's Family Leave <br /> Provisions. <br /> 36 <br /> Page 42 #15077 <br /> MUFF # 905 <br />
