05/23/2011 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15115 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CHIEF TO EXPEND $100,000 <br /> OF COPS /SLESF FUNDS IN FISCAL YEAR 2010 -2011 <br /> WHEREAS, the Redwood City Police Department has received a State <br /> Citizens Option for Public Safety /Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Funds <br /> (COPS /SLEF) grant in the amount of $100,000; and <br /> WHEREAS, grant funds must be used to supplement existing services <br /> and may not be used to supplant any existing funding for law enforcement <br /> services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Council finds that the proposed expenditures will be for <br /> supplemental police equipment as authorized by the grant, and will not <br /> supplant existing funding; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the Police Chiefs recommendation to use COPS /SLEF <br /> grant funds for the purchase of police equipment, including security cameras for <br /> high -crime areas, night- vision surveillance equipment, audio surveillance and <br /> recording equipment, vehicle tracking equipment and police tactical equipment; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, on May 23, 2011, the City Council held a public hearing to <br /> consider the expenditure of COPS /SLEF grant funds in the amount of <br /> $100,000.00. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1.
