05/06/2013 <br /> WHEREAS, replacement of the existing Gateway Monument Signs is <br /> Categorically Exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act because it meets <br /> the Class 1 exemption at Section 15301 "Existing Facilities" which allows for <br /> maintenance and repair of existing facilities involving negligible or no expansion of use <br /> of existing facilities, and the Class 2 exemption at Section 15302 for "Replacement or <br /> Reconstruction" of existing structures where the new structure will be located on the <br /> same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose; <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Adoption of Resolution <br /> 1. The City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby approves the <br /> replacement of existing Gateway Monument Signs located at the Southern <br /> entrance to the City (at Chestnut Street and EI Camino Real) and the <br /> Northern entrance to the City (at Claremont Avenue and EI Camino Real) <br /> pursuant to the content and design of the proposed new signage design, as <br /> shown on Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated by reference. <br /> 2. The City Manager or his or her designee is authorized and directed to take all <br /> steps necessary and appropriate to implement the replacement of the existing <br /> Gateway Monument Signs located at the Southern and Northern entrances to <br /> the City. <br /> 3. Construction and funding of this project is hereby authorized, and the City <br /> Manager or his or her designee is hereby authorized and directed to maintain <br /> the monument signs, which includes timely graffiti removal and removal or <br /> restoration of the monument signs at the end of their life spans. <br /> SECTION 2.
