07/22/2013 <br /> discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, <br /> religion, sex or national origin. Contractor will take affirmative action to ensure that <br /> applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without <br /> regard to their race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Such action will include, but <br /> not be limited to, the following: employment, upgrading, demotion, or transfer, <br /> recruitment or recruitment advertising; layoff or termination; rates of pay or other forms <br /> of compensation; and selection for training, including apprenticeship. <br /> 17. SECTION 3 OF THE HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACT OF <br /> 1968. Contractor hereby agrees that it will comply with the provisions of Section 3, the <br /> regulations set forth in 24 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) part 135, as that section <br /> may be amended from time to time, and all applicable rules and orders of the U.S. <br /> Department of Housing and Urban Development; and that it will, to the greatest extent <br /> feasible, make available opportunities for training and employment under this contract <br /> to lower income residents of Redwood City. <br /> 18. NONDISCRIMINATION BASED ON DISABILITY. Contractor hereby agrees <br /> that it will comply with the provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as <br /> amended, and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) providing equal access and <br /> reasonable accommodations in employment programs and services to persons who are <br /> disabled. <br /> 19. INTEREST OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS. No members, officers, or employees <br /> or agents of the City of Redwood City, no member of the City Council and no other <br /> public official who exercises any function or responsibility with respect to this <br /> Agreement or Contractor's Program during his or her tenure, or for one year thereafter, <br /> will have any interest, direct or indirect, in this Agreement or a related subcontract, or <br /> the proceeds thereof.
