<br /> 06/09/2014 <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15346 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY ADOPTING A RATE STRUCTURE AND REGULATIONS FOR <br />PARKING ON CITY OWNED OR CONTROLLED OFF STREET <br />PARKING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the City Council of the City of Redwood City introduced an <br />ordinance at its meeting on April 28, 2014 updating the policies and procedures by <br />which the City will manage its off street parking; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the City of Redwood City completed a parking study in 2013 which <br />made recommendations to impr ove the operation and management of the parking <br />program so that it better meets the changing needs of downtown activities and <br />businesses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the parking study found that there are off - street parking facilities that <br />are over - subscribed during we ekday peak periods and that this has been exacerbated <br />with the redevelopment of the Middlefield Lot; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City Council of the City of Redwood City supported the <br />recommendations of the parking study at its meeting of October 21, 2013 and direc ted <br />staff to return with implementing actions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City of Redwood City and its Council acknowledge the benefit of <br />managing parking through market - based pricing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City of Redwood City and its Council support the continued <br />e conomic viability of downtown buildings with no, or limited, dedicated parking; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the number and cost of parking permits for each off - street parking <br />facility should reflect the demand for parking in that facility, the cost of nearby on - street <br />parking, and the desired mix of short and long - term parkers ; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the parking permit program can be managed more efficiently and be <br />more responsive to downtown development and parking dynamics under the direction of <br />the City Manager . <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br /> Section 1 . <br />The following rates and regulations and hereby established for off - <br />street parking facilities owned or operated by the City of Redwood City: <br />ATTY/RESO.2973/PARKING RESO. # 15346 <br />REV: 04 - 2 4 - 14 VR MUFF # 703 <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
