08/25/2014 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15362 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD IMPLEMENTING OUTDOOR WATER USE <br /> RESTRICTIONS IN COMPLIANCE WITH STATE WATER <br /> RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD'S JULY 15, 2014 EMERGENCY <br /> DROUGHT REGULATIONS <br /> WHEREAS, on January 17, 2014, California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. <br /> issued Proclamation No. 1-17-2014 declaring a State of Emergency to exist in California <br /> due to severe drought conditions and calling on Californians to reduce water usage by <br /> 20 percent; and <br /> WHEREAS, on January 31, 2014, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission <br /> (SFPUC) requested that wholesale customers voluntarily reduce water consumption by <br /> 10%; and <br /> WHEREAS, in response to the Governor's proclamation and SFPUC's request, <br /> Redwood City implemented or re-emphasized the following water conservation <br /> measures and programs: Leak Alerts Program; Lawn Be Gone Program; Sprinkler <br /> Nozzles Replacement Program; High Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate Program; <br /> Water Use Allocation Program; "Smart Home" Water-Use House Calls Program; Toilet <br /> Rebate Program; and provided free water conservation kits to all residents; promoted <br /> use of recycled water for construction-related activities through multiple sources; added <br /> recycled water hydrants in Seaport Industrial Area and Redwood Shores; provided <br /> "water conservation letters" to top water users; provided water conservation table top <br /> notices in restaurants citywide; provided water conservation stickers for public <br /> ATTY/RES0.3006/CC Outdoor Water Use Restrictions RE50.#15362 <br /> REV:08-21-14 VR-MLG MUFF#802 <br /> Page 1 of 5 <br />
