04/13/2015 <br /> SECOND AMENDMENT TO CITY MANAGER EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT <br /> This SECOND AMENDMENT to the EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT (dated April <br /> 11, 2011) as Amended on October 7, 2014, befinreen the City of Redwood City, a <br /> Charter City and Municipal Corporation of the State of California ("City"), and Robert B. <br /> Bell ("Employee") is entered into as of the 14th day of April, 2015. <br /> WHEREAS, Robert B. Bell has served as the City Manager of the City of <br /> Redwood City ("City") since April 2011 after also having served as the Interim City <br /> Manager; and <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. Bell indicated that he will retire this year, planned to resign <br /> effective May 1, 2015, and has already effectuated the sale of his home in preparation <br /> for a move out of state; and <br /> WHEREAS, City has requested that Dr. Bell postpone his resignation date until <br /> June 28, 2015, in order to provide for management and oversight of the City through the <br /> end of the fiscal year, to supervise projects during this period of unprecedented <br /> development activity, and to provide for continuity and a smooth transition as the City <br /> undergoes it search for a new City Manager; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council as appointing power and Dr. Bell agree to the <br /> following terms in consideration of Dr. Bell's agreement to extend his employment to the <br /> City's preferred date. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants contained in the <br /> Employment Agreement as Amended and as provided herein, new section 2.1 of the <br /> Agreement is ADDED to read as follows: <br /> 2.1 Employee's resignation date shall be June 28, 2015, and in consideration <br /> therefore the City shall provide Employee a housing allowance in the <br /> amount of eight thousand dollars per month ($8,000) for the months of <br /> May and June 2015 for a total of sixteen thousand dollars ($16,000), in <br /> addition to his regular compensation as set forth in his Employment <br /> Agreement as Amended, payable in lump sum on or before April 16, 2015, <br /> which amount is intended to offset the financial burden of remaining in the <br /> area pending the City's preferred extended employment resignation date <br /> for Employee.
