1/25/2016 <br /> Section 15305, Class 5 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. <br /> Class 5, Minor Alterations in Land Use Limitations, exempts from CEQA the issuance of <br /> minor encroachment permits. <br /> 2. The City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby continues the City <br /> Sidewalk Cafe Pilot Program for a finrelve (12) month period as follows: <br /> A. Sidewalk Cafe Permits may be issued in seven (7) locations <br /> deemed appropriate by the City Manager/designee, authorizing applicants to extend the <br /> sidewalk to replace one or more parking spaces to accommodate the proposed <br /> sidewalk cafe. In determining whether a location is appropriate, safety for patrons, <br /> pedestrians and traffic, width of the adjacent street, availability of other nearby parking, <br /> and aesthetics of the proposal shall be considered. <br /> B. Parking spaces utilized for a sidewalk cafe must be directly in front <br /> of the applicant's restaurant. <br /> C. Installations of sidewalk cafes in parking spaces shall conform to <br /> the Sidewalk Cafe Guidelines (attached hereto as Exhibit A), except to the extent <br /> necessary to specifically design the installation for the parking space area, and shall be <br /> designed and installed only as approved by the City and at the expense of the <br /> Permittee. <br /> D. Permits for sidewalk cafes issued pursuant to this Program may <br /> authorize other exceptions to the Sidewalk Cafe Guidelines only as necessary and <br /> appropriate for the new expanded area. <br /> E. Except as modified herein, such permits shall be subject to the <br /> same fees, guidelines, regulations and conditions of approval as set forth in Chapter <br /> 33A for Sidewalk Cafe Permits, provided however that permits issued pursuant to this <br /> Program may be effective for the duration of this 12-month Program. <br /> F. The City Manager/designee is hereby authorized to continue for the <br /> duration of this 12-month program any permits previously issued pursuant to Resolution <br /> No. 15340, dated May 12, 2014. <br /> 3.
