10/23/2017 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15624 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 15081 TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY <br />ATTORNEY TO DELEGATE AUTHORITY TO ADMINISTER AND MANAGE <br />CLAIMS AND ACTIONS AGAINST THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY OR ITS <br />OFFICERS OR EMPLOYEES AND CLAIMS AND ACTIONS OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY <br />WHEREAS, Government Code § 935.4 authorizes a local public entityto delegate to <br />an employee such functions relating to claims as the local public entity designates; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code § 935.4, a local public entity by <br />resolution may authorize an employee to allow, compromise, or settle a claim against the <br />local public entity if the amount to be paid pursuant to the allowance, compromise, or <br />settlement does not exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000); and <br />WHEREAS, on January 24, 2011, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 15081, <br />which (1) authorizes the City Attorney to allow, deny, allow in part, settle or compromise <br />any claims, potential claims, or action against the City of Redwood City or its officers, or <br />employees, and any claims and actions of the City of Redwood City against others, in an <br />amount not to exceed Twenty -Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) and (2) authorizes the City <br />Manager or their designee to allow, deny, allow in part, settle or compromise any claims, <br />potential claims, or action against the City of Redwood City or its officers, or employees, <br />and any claims and actions of the City of Redwood City against others, in an amount not to <br />exceed Fifty Thousand dollars ($50,000), when the City Attorney concurs in writing; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to protect the City's interests and to promote efficient and <br />prompt handling of claims, potential claims, and actions, the City Council desires to <br />authorize the City Attorney to delegate their appropriate authority to allow, compromise, or <br />settle claims, potential claims, and actions within the limits allowed by the Government <br />Code. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood <br />City as follows: <br />ATTY/RESO.0094/CC RESO AMEN DM ENT TO RESO 15081—ATTY CLAIM MANAGEMENT RESO.
