RESOLUTION NO. 15632 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING THE EL CAMINO REAL CORRIDOR PLAN WHEREAS, the proposed EI Camino Real Corridor Plan ("Corridor Plan") is a policy document that provides a comprehensive land use, transportation, and streetscape approach consistent with the General Plan's principles. The Plan includes visions, goals, strategies, and implementation actions and is organized into four main topics, as briefly described below; and 1. Mobility addresses the various ways people travel around the Corridor 2. Economic Vitality addresses ways to support existing Corridor businesses 3. Housing addresses ways to provide housing for a range of income levels, support existing neighborhoods, and improve services for residents 4. Place -Making addresses ways to improve the Corridor's aesthetics and identity WHEREAS, on January 1, 2016, the City Council held a public hearing and directed staff to initiate the Corridor Plan, including establishing a Citizen's Advisory Group and expanding the project scope to include additional community outreach and transportation analysis; and WHEREAS, on March 21, 2017, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to obtain a progress update on the Corridor Plan, including the progress, concepts, options, and themes. The Planning Commission was supportive of the progress made and provided feedback for the plan development; and WHEREAS, on November 7, 2017, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed Corridor Plan. The Commission was supportive of the Corridor Plan as proposed with the addition of the Citizens Advisory Group's goals. Individual Commissioners suggested additional strategies could include sidewalk width improvements in sections where it is unsafe and ways to better amass parks. The Commission recommended that the Council adopt the Corridor Plan; and WHEREAS, on December 4, 2017, the City Council held a public hearing on the proposed Corridor Plan; and WHEARAS, a notice of public hearing on the Corridor Plan was duly published in the San Mateo Daily Journal newspaper, and posted on the City's website and on the City Hall bulletin board 10 days prior to the public hearing; and WHEREAS, at the public hearing, the City Council considered the whole of the record.
