REDWOOD CITY EL CAMINO REAL CORRIDOR PLAN <br />30 <br />GOAL <br />• Increase the direct connections between the east and west sides of Redwood City, making it easier and saf- <br />er to get around the city and creating more business and investment opportunities on urban-scale blocks. <br />StRAteGIeS <br />1t As redevelopment occurs, break up large and/ <br />or underutilized parcels to extend the street grid <br />where it is currently lacking or disconnected, in- <br />cluding at Center Street. <br />1U Create new through intersections that connect <br />Redwood Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue to Main <br />Street. <br />1V Remove slip lanes and other short diagonal street <br />segments where possible to simplify traffic circula- <br />tion and create opportunities for new plazas, shared <br />parking, and public open spaces along the Corridor, <br />including at: <br /> -Redwood Avenue and Main Street <br /> -Claremont Avenue <br /> -Laurel Street <br /> -Hazel Avenue <br /> See also Section 4.3, Parks and Plazas <br />CONCEPTuAL REDEVELOPMENT OF CENTER <br />STREET AREA <br />Refer to the <br />Downtown Precise <br />Plan for additional <br />street network <br />improvements.
