CHAPTER 4 | PLAce-MAKING <br />59 <br />GOALS <br />• Expand and improve parks and public open spaces (both passive and active) within the Corridor, ensuring <br />that as the residential and business community on and near the El Camino Real Corridor grows, sufficient <br />parks, plazas, and other open space and public gathering places are provided. <br />• Expand the system of parks, plazas, and other open spaces that enhances the Corridor’s identity and that <br />serves the Corridor’s residents, visitors, employees, and business owners. Utilize our existing resources and <br />assets to their fullest, creating a welcoming and inviting environment to the public. <br />StRAteGIeS <br />4J Work with Sequoia High School to improve public <br />access to open space on the school campus, par- <br />ticularly at the corners of Broadway and James. <br />4K Enhance and expand, if feasible, Little River Park as <br />part of the improvements to the Transit Center. <br />4L Identify locations for new parks and plazas on small <br />lots and “leftover” areas of right of way as improve- <br />ments to the circulation network are made. Poten- <br />tial opportunities include, but are not limited to: <br /> -The gateway at Edgewood Road <br /> -The intersection of Redwood Avenue and El <br />Camino Real, near Woodside Road <br /> -The intersection of El Camino Real and Main <br />Street <br />4M Establish new standards and guidelines with respect <br />to the provision of parks and plazas for develop- <br />ment within Activity Centers.
