<br />ATTY/CHARTER AMENDMENTS/2018/2018 FINAL CHARTER AMENDMENTS <br />REV: 07-18-18 VR <br />Page 13 of 45 <br />and boards shall not receive any compensation. <br /> <br />(l) To make such recommendations to the cCouncil or bBoard of eEqualization regarding the <br />assessment roll as he they may deem advisable. <br /> <br />(m) To possess such other powers and to perform such additional duties as are or may be <br />prescribed by this Charter or by ordinance. <br /> <br />(n) From time to time, in order to facilitate the prompt, economical and efficient dispatch of <br />cCity business, to assign assistants, deputies, and employees from any office or department <br />of the cCity government to perform such work or service in connection with any other office <br />or department thereof, or to work in more than one of said offices or departments. <br /> <br />The cCity mManager and such other officers of the cCity as may be designated by vote of the <br />cCouncil shall be entitled to seats with the cCouncil, but shall have no vote therein. The cCity <br />mManager shall have the right to take part in the discussion of all matters coming before the <br />cCouncil. <br /> <br />In case of the absence or disability of the cCity mManager, the cCouncil may designate as cCity <br />mManager pro tem some qualified person to perform the duties of the office temporarily. (As <br />amended June 11, 1936, ratified by Legislature January 23, and May 15, 1937, Stats. 1937, pp. <br />2697, 2957.) <br /> <br />Section 27. NO INTERFERENCE BETWEEN COUNCIL, BOARD OR COMMISSION <br />AND CITY MANAGER, OFFICER OR DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR: <br /> <br />1. Notwithstanding any cCharter provision, ordinance or resolution to the contrary: <br /> <br />A. No member of the cCouncil, or any board or commission of the City shall in any manner, <br />directly or indirectly, by suggestion or otherwise, attempt to influence or coerce the cCity <br />mManager, or any administrative officer or department director: <br /> <br />i. In the making of any appointment or <br /> <br />ii. In the purchase of supplies. <br /> <br />B. No member of the cCouncil, or any board or commission of the City shall attempt to <br />exact any promise relative to any appointment from any candidate for cCity mManager, <br />administrative officer, or department director. <br /> <br />C. Relative to the jurisdiction of the cCouncil, or any board or commission of the City, no <br />member thereof shall, in any manner, directly or indirectly, discuss with any candidate for cCity <br />mManager, cCity administrative officer or department director, the employment of any <br />subordinate employee.
