11/19/2018 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15718 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE CHARTER REVIEW SUB -COMMITTEE <br />TO THE GOVERNANCE SUB -COMMITTEE AND TO BROADEN ITS <br />SCOPE <br />WHEREAS, the City Council created the Charter Review Sub -Committee in 2015 <br />to review the City Charter and propose changes to the Charter that better reflect the <br />current needs and demands of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to rename the Charter Review Sub - <br />Committee as the Governance Sub -Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, the Governance Sub -Committee will assume the same roles and <br />responsibilities as the Charter Review Sub -Committee in addition to a broader scope of <br />responsibilities; and <br />WHEREAS, the responsibilities of the Governance Sub -Committee will include, at <br />the direction of the City Council, proposing Charter amendments, reviewing local, state <br />and federal legislation, and, as they relate to City Council governance, considering new <br />City policies and reviewing and proposing changes to existing City policies. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Governance Sub -Committee. The Governance Sub -Committee <br />shall replace the Charter Review Sub -Committee and be comprised of three City <br />Councilmembers appointed by the Mayor. The Governance Sub -Committee shall be a <br />recommending body to the City Council and shall meet on an as -needed basis. <br />SECTION 2. Scope of Responsibilities. The Governance Sub -Committee, at the <br />direction of the City Council, shall: <br />A. Review the City Charter to propose amendments to the Charter; <br />B. Review pending local, state or federal legislation that has the potential to impact <br />Redwood City residents; and <br />C.
