04/08/2019 RESOLUTION NO. 15748 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DESIGNATING THE EVENT ROUTE AND APPROVING THE TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES FOR THE SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL BOOSTER CLUB'S SEQUOIA STAMPEDE 5K RUN/WALK FUNDRAISER WHEREAS, because of the impact that special events have on City streets and traffic when a full or partial street closure is required for such a special event, the City Council of the City of Redwood City finds that it is crucial that any such routes be thoroughly reviewed and analyzed to enable careful planning of such special events in order to minimize impacts to the general public where such street closures are permitted; and WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes the City to temporarily close a portion of any street for a local special eventwhen the local authority determines the closure is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and WHEREAS, after thorough review, analysis, and planning the City Council does hereby establish the following necessary partial street closures for the Sequoia High School Booster Club's 8th annual Sequoia Stampede 5K Run/Walk fundraiser. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Sequoia High School Booster Club's 8th annual Sequoia Stampede route is hereby established as shown by the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A". 2. On Saturday, April 20, 2019, Elwood Street, Katherine Avenue, Nevada Street, Outer Circle, Brewster Avenue, Topaz Street, and James Avenue, will be subject to temporary partial closures between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in order to allow the Sequoia High School Booster Club's Sequoia Stampede event to occur.
