EXHIBIT A-1 <br />PROPOSED AMENDED JOB DESCRIPTON <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR <br />DEFINITION <br />Attachment A-2 <br />Plans, organizes, and provides direction and oversight for Human Resources Department <br />functions including classification and compensation; recruitment, selection, and <br />promotion; employee benefits, wellness and engagement; employee training and <br />organizational development; equal employment opportunity; worker's compensation and <br />safety; employee and labor relations; workforce planning/succession planning. Develops <br />and administers Human Resources rules, policies and procedures, and provides strategic <br />assistance in labor negotiations. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This is an executive management classification that oversees, directs, and participates in <br />all Human Resources Department programs, including the day-to-day operations and <br />both short and long-range planning and budgeting. Responsibilities include coordinating <br />the activities of the Human Resources Department with other City departments and <br />divisions, and managing the complex and varied functions of the department. The <br />incumbent is accountable for accomplishing program planning and operational goals and <br />objectives for the department, and furthering City goals and objectives within general <br />policy guidelines. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives general direction from the Assistant City Manager. <br />Exercises supervision of management and supervisory staff, and indirect supervision of <br />technical, professional and clerical staff. <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are <br />not limited to, the following: <br />Plans, directs, and administers all Human Resources Department programs and <br />functions including advising executive and management staff regarding sound <br />Human Resources practices and techniques to effectively plan for and manage the <br />City's workforce. <br />
