O R I G I N A L <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14106 <br />_ 12/18/00 <br />RESOLUTION CONSENTING TO FORMATION OF SAN MATEO <br />COUNTY TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, the Parking and Business Improvement Area Law of 1989 <br />(Streets and Highways Code §36500 et seq.; the "Law ") provides for the <br />establishment of benefit areas within which assessments are levied upon <br />businesses for, among other matters, the promotion of tourism; and <br />WHEREAS, a proposal has been submitted to cities in the County of San <br />Mateo, and the County of San Mateo, California to establish the "San Mateo <br />County Tourism Business Improvement District ( "District') pursuant to the Law <br />for the purpose of collecting assessments from commercial lodging facilities <br />including, without limitation, hotels and motels the revenues from which shall be <br />used for the promotion of tourism; and <br />WHEREAS, said proposal includes the provision that the City of <br />Burlingame, California, shall conduct the proceedings necessary to establish said <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 36521.5 of the Law requires the consent of this <br />Council to the formation by another city of a business improvement area which <br />includes the territorial jurisdiction of this City; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed the proposal and desires to <br />consent to the formation of the District; <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />Reso -1048 1 <br />DES:djk <br />F:/Shared /Redwood /Cound <br />12/05/00 <br />
