Iyg <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO PARTICIPATE <br />IN HIGH EFFICIENCY CLOTHES WASHER REBATE PROGRAM <br />WITH THE BAY AREA WATER USERS ASSOCIATION ( BAWUA) <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the California Urban Water Management Act, the <br />City of Redwood City is a signatory to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) <br />regarding Urban Water Conservation in California; and <br />WHEREAS, the MOU includes implementation of a high efficiency clothes <br />washing machine rebate program, known as 'Best Management Practice (BMP) <br />#6 "; and <br />WHEREAS, the BAWUA has taken on the role of administering a regional <br />program for this BMP; and <br />WHEREAS, staff is recommending that Redwood City participate in this <br />program to include two specific and unique qualifications as follows: <br />1. The per- customer rebate amount be set at $150.00 instead of <br />$75.00, as more specifically set forth in the staff report; and <br />2. The new rebate program be retroactively effective to July 1, 2001 to <br />afford recent City residents who had recently purchased washing <br />machines the opportunity to apply for City rebates; and <br />WHEREAS, THE City Council has established a Water Enterprise Fund <br />Conservation Rebates account (in the Capital Improvement Program) the balance <br />of which is approximately $290,000.00; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />F:Atty2001Shared /Redwood /Council /Reso /Reso -1227 1 <br />
