09/10/01 <br />O R I G I N A L <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) <br />105KW DIESEL PORTABLE EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL <br />GENERATOR AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />PURCHASE DOCUMENTS THEREFOR <br />WHEREAS, on June 25, 2001, and pursuant to Section 2.65 of the <br />Redwood City Code, the City Clerk caused public notice inviting bids to be <br />published for the purchase of seven (7) 105KW Diesel Portable Emergency <br />Electrical Generators; and <br />WHEREAS, it was the intent of staff to purchase a maximum of four (4) <br />generators that may be used at Sewer and Water Facilities and three (3) for City <br />buildings, as back -up power, either during a catastrophe, or during a loss of <br />power as a result of rolling blackouts; and <br />WHEREAS, it appeared questionable as to whether sufficient funds were <br />available to purchase three (3) of the seven (7) generators; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication, on July 2, 2001, three (3) bids <br />were received; and <br />WHEREAS, at the July 23, 2001 Council Meeting, it was made evident <br />that staff would return to Council with recommendation for the purchase of <br />additional generators necessary to meet emergency needs; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council then awarded said bid to Cummins -West, <br />Inc. of San Leandro, California for five (5) generators in the aggregate amount <br />of $237,116.20 or $47,423.24 per unit on July 23, 2001; and <br />F:Atty2001 Shared/Redwood/Council/Reso/Reso-1 231 1 <br />
