POLICY ESTABLISHING CONTINUATION OF SALARY <br />AND BENEFITS DURING MILITARY LEAVE <br />1. Any regular or probationary City employee who is called into active military duty as <br />a member of the California National Guard or a United States Military Reserve <br />Organization shall receive the following compensation and benefits: <br />a. For the first thirty (30) calendar days of active military service the employee <br />shall, in addition to any military earnings, receive full wages in accordance <br />with the compensation schedule for the classification held by such person. <br />b. Beyond the first thirty (30) calendar days of military duty and up to a <br />maximum of six (6) consecutive months, the City shall pay to the employee <br />the difference between the salary payable pursuant to the employee's <br />classification and the compensation paid by the military service. <br />c. The employee shall receive during the maximum six -month period of military <br />leave, full benefits in addition to salary including vacation and sick leave <br />accruals, and health coverage including dental retirement and other benefits <br />consistent with or provided by the appropriate current memorandum of <br />understanding. <br />2. Re- employment of employees subject to the provision of this policy shall be governed <br />by provisions of the State and/or Federal law in effect at the time of such <br />reemployment. <br />14436 <br />
