RESOLUTION NO. 14477 RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT, BECAUSE OF LOCAL CONDITIONS, THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, WELFARE, AND NECESSITY, REQUIRE CHANGES OR MODIFICATION TO CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, AND ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 AND OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR BUILDING AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE FOLLOWING CODES: "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1997 EDITION "; THE UNIFORM BUILDING SECURITY CODE, 1997 EDITION "; THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1997 EDITION "; "THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 2000 EDITION "; "THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 2000 EDITION"; "THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1999 EDITION, " AND THE "UNIFORM CODE FOR BUILDING CONSERVATION, 1997 EDITION, " AS MODIFIED AND MADE APPLICABLE TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY

Codes and include: (1) improved structural provisions; (2) bracing; (3) special structural <br />provisions for Younger Bay Mud area; (4) prohibition on metallic piping and electrical <br />conduit in certain areas; and (5) improved electrical provisions. <br />WHEREAS, Section 17958.7 of the California Health and Safety Code requires <br />insofar as such changes and additions relate to apartment houses, hotels, motels and <br />dwellings, and buildings and structures accessory thereto, that the governing body of a <br />city, before making any changes and additions, shall make an express finding that such <br />changes and additions are reasonably necessary; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. In connection with the adoption of that certain ordinance entitled, "Ordinance <br />Repealing Articles IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and Article IX, Divisions 1, 2 and 3 of Chapter 9 of <br />the Code of the City of Redwood City; Adding Articles IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and Article IX, <br />Divisions 1, 2 and 3 of Chapter 9 to the Code of the City of Redwood City Relating to <br />the Establishment of Regulations and Standards for Building and Structures in the City <br />of Redwood City and Adopting by Reference the Following Codes: 'The Uniform <br />Building Code, 1997 Edition,' 'The Uniform Building Security Code, 1997 Edition'; 'The <br />Uniform Housing Code, 1997 Edition'; 'The Uniform Mechanical Code, 2000 Edition'; <br />'The Uniform Plumbing Code, 2000 Edition'; and 'The National Electrical Code, 1999 <br />Edition,' and the 'Uniform Code for Building Conservation, 1997 Edition,' (the <br />"Ordinance ")" it is hereby expressly found and determined that modifications, deletions, <br />and additions made to the Codes as set forth in the Ordinance are reasonably <br />necessary to provide for a system of protection and that modifications or changes are <br />Atty /Reso /Reso.1389 <br />102402 <br />2 <br />1447T __ . <br />
