WHEREAS, the residents of Redwood City's senior care facilities will benefit if <br />Redwood City Police Officers accompany the County's Ombudsman, when requested <br />by the Ombudsman, to investigate complaints of abuse or neglect at such facilities. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. It is the policy of the Redwood City Council to direct the City Manager to <br />take such action as necessary to ensure the above stated benefits of visitation by city <br />staff to skilled nursing homes in the City of Redwood City. <br />2. It is the policy of the Redwood City Council to direct the City Manager to <br />take such action as necessary to ensure that, upon request by the County <br />Ombudsman, said Ombudsman is accompanied and assisted by appropriate Redwood <br />City staff as described above in the pursuit of the Ombudsman's investigative duties. <br />3. It is the policy of the Redwood City Council to direct the City Manager to <br />continue working with and to assist the San Mateo County Ombudsman and Adult <br />Protective Services in the prevention of abuse, neglect, and abandonment of senior <br />citizens within Redwood City. <br />4. It is the policy of the Redwood City Council to direct the City Manager to <br />ensure the appropriate staff actively investigate, and where appropriate pursue <br />prosecution of suspected cases of abuse of our senior citizens. <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1383 2 14527 <br />040303 <br />
