10/25/2004 <br />measures in the election, Proposition 68 and Proposition 1A (on which the Council has <br />already taken positions consistent with the League's and the Governor's); and <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 70 is opposed by more than 300 law enforcement, <br />public safety, education, environmental and taxpayer leaders and organizations, <br />including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, California Police Chiefs Association, <br />California State Sheriffs' Association, California District Attorneys Association, <br />California State Association of Counties, League of California Cities, California State <br />Building Trades Council, Unite HERE!, and the California Taxpayer Protection <br />Committee, among others <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Redwood City that we hereby express strong opposition to Proposition 70, the Tribal <br />Gaming Compacts and Exclusive Gaming Rights Initiative, on the November 2, 2004 <br />State -wide ballot. <br />Atty /Reso /Reso.1499 14611 <br />101804 2 Muff # 214 <br />
