A housing project on the subject properties will provide housing <br />opportunities within walking distance to public transit as well as downtown employment <br />and services; and <br />C. The Amendment is consistent with the City's Housing Element and will <br />create new opportunities for affordable housing; and <br />d. The Amendment is in the public interest and consistent with the purposes <br />of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to adopt the Amendment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That the recitals set forth above are true and correct, and are hereby <br />incorporated herein by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. That the General Plan is hereby amended to change the General Plan <br />designation of the real property located at 1540 El Camino Real (Assessor Parcel Nos. <br />053 - 093 -070 and 053 - 093 -080) Redwood City, California, as shown on the attached <br />Exhibit 'A," which is incorporated herein by this reference, from Commercial /Office to <br />Mixed Use (residential and commercial) District. <br />3.
