<br />12/12/2006 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14754 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING SOUTH SA YSIDE WASTE <br />MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (SBWMA) OFFER TO MANAGE <br />CONTRACTOR SELECTION PROCESS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City is a member of the SBWMA, a joint powers authority <br /> <br />consisting of the cities of Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Menlo Park, San <br /> <br />Carlos and San Mateo, the towns of Atherton and Hillsborough, the West Bay Sanitary <br /> <br />Service, and the County of San Mateo, whose purpose is waste collection and recycling <br /> <br />services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City's operating agreement for solid waste, recyclable materials, <br /> <br />and organic materials collection services expires in December 2010; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, SBWMA is planning to request and shall receive proposals for the <br /> <br />collection, processing and transfer of solid waste, recyclable materials, and organic materials <br /> <br />within the jurisdictions of SBWMA; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the governing board of SBWMA has offered to provide its services to <br /> <br />member agencies to manage the contractor selection process; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, SBWMA has requested that if Redwood City is supportive of the <br /> <br />SBWMA's plans as presented at the December 11, 2006 City Council Meeting a resolution <br /> <br />to that affect be adopted. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1.
