<br />03/24/2008 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14853 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING A <br />RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE THE PARKS FOR THE FUTURE <br />ONE-EIGHTH CENT SALES TAX MEASURE ON THE JUNE 3, <br />2008 BALLOT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on February 20, 2008, the Parks, Recreation and Community <br /> <br />Services Commission unanimously approved a motion endorsing the Parks for the <br /> <br />Future measure; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors encourage City Council <br /> <br />and residents to endorse the measure on the June 3, 2008 ballot; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the one-eighth cent increase in sales tax would generate <br /> <br />approximately $16 million countywide and cost the average person $18 per year; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, two-thirds approval by those voting in the election throughout the <br /> <br />County is required for the measure to pass; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, based on the distribution formula, Redwood City could expect to <br /> <br />receive about $805,000 per year; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />DOES HEREBY FIND, RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The Parks for the Future one-eighth cent sales tax measure which would <br />support parks and recreation activities in San Mateo County for a period of 25 years is <br />hereby endorsed. <br /> <br />2.
