05/19/2009 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14936 <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE REDWOOD CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET <br />FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008 -2009 SO THAT THE GRANT FUNDS MAY BE <br />APPRORIATED IN THE AMOUNT OF $40,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF PATROL <br />BOAT ENGINES <br />WHEREAS, In November 2008, the Redwood City Police Department accepted from the <br />Department of Boating and Waterways (DBW) a 1998 26' Almar patrol boat equipped with updated <br />electronics and a new trailer; and <br />WHEREAS, the vessel was expected to remain in serviceable condition until 2015, however, <br />due to excessive use, it was anticipated that the engines would likely need to be replaced in the next <br />two to three years; and <br />WHEREAS, the police department anticipated future grant opportunities to become available <br />to offset engine replacement costs; and <br />WHEREAS, In January 2009 and March 2009, the boat's engines suffered internal damage <br />due to wear; and <br />WHEREAS, the cost to replace both engines is estimated to be approximately $40,000; and <br />WHEREAS, DBW has offered a reimbursable grant of $40,000 for engine replacement <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. As The California Department of Boating and Waterways will provide a reimbursable <br />grant of $40,000 to the City. The Police Department requests a supplemental <br />appropriation within the Police Department Patrol Service sub - program (62131) for FY <br />2008 -2009 <br />ATTY /RESO /RESO.1905 14936 <br />042709 MUFF # 505 <br />
