<br />DES:yc:ll/24/80 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />~OY 2.4 -1980 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br />---------- <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING THE ~m~10RY OF MARY BETH SOWERS <br /> <br />N o. 875 1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council shares the grief, shock and sorrow of <br /> <br /> <br />the entire Community at the loss through violence of Mary Beth <br /> <br /> <br />Sowers, a Redwood City resident; and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, while the taking of her life is beyond all compre- <br /> <br /> <br />hension, this Council wishes to convey to the parents, relatives <br /> <br /> <br />and friends of Mary Beth Sowers its sincere belief that her life <br /> <br /> <br />has not been in vain; and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mary Beth's radiance and love of life 'touched all <br /> <br /> <br />those who knew her, and those who have come to know of her through <br /> <br /> <br />her death, and she shall thereby continue to represent the best <br /> <br /> <br />in mortal life while having been confronted with, and overcome <br /> <br /> <br />through death, its worst; <br /> <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />1. This Council hereby shares in the grief, shock and sorrow <br /> <br /> <br />at the loss to the entire Community of Mary Beth Sowers, and calls <br /> <br /> <br />upon all citizens of the City of Redwood City to pause in their <br /> <br /> <br />daily tasks to reflect upon her contributions, through life, and <br /> <br /> <br />through her death, to this Community; and, further, through her <br /> <br /> <br />loss of life, to recognize the necessity for a civilized, just and <br /> <br /> <br />responsible existence. <br /> <br /> <br />2. This Council hereby expresses its condolences and sympathy <br /> <br /> <br />to the family and friends of Mary Beth Sowers. <br /> <br /> <br />3.
