RESOLUTION GRANTING DISABILITY COVERAGE TO CERTAIN EMPLOYEES (SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION, LOCAL 715) WHEREAS, Service Employees International Union, Local 715, proposed as part of the labor negotiations with the City that the unit which it represents be covered by State Disability Insurance, the regulations of which are located in Part 2 (commencing with Section 2601), Division I, of the Unemployment Insurance Code; and WHEREAS, Section 710.5 of the Unemployment Insurance Code permits a public agency to become subject to the aforementioned provisions if such election is the result of a negotiated agree- ment between the public agency and a recognized employee organi- zation; and WHEREAS, this Council, based upon the recommendation of the Personnel Director, elects to provide such disability insurance coverage to the employees of the unit represented by Service Employee International Union, Local 715; NOW, THEREFORE; . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: The City of Redwood City elects to become an employer subject to Part 2 (commencing with Section 2601), Division 1 of the Unemployment Insurance Code with respect to employees of the unit represented by Service Employee International Union, Local 715 and the City Manager is hereby directed to file such election with the Director of Employment Development Department in accordance with the provisions of Section 710.5 of the Unemployment Insurance Code. * * * 8854
